On June the 6th, natur ëmwelt Fondation Hëllef fir d'Natur invited S.A.R. Grand Duc Henri to the northern part of the country. Along the upper reaches of the river Our, the nature reserves of the foundation and the mill of Kalborn were visited.
The Grand Duke was welcomed by Mr. Emile Eicher, Mayor of the municipality of Clervaux, and by Mr. Patrick Losch, President of natur&ëmwelt Fondation Hëllef fir d'Natur. In the presence of Ms. Carole Dieschbourg, Minister of the Environment and other partners and volunteers of the Foundation, a hike from Lieler to the mill of Kalborn took place. Mr. Patrick Losch and his staff gave explanations on the biodiversity and protection of the area and the beauty and biological richness of the area were explained. In this important Natura 2000 area, natur&ëmwelt Fondation Hëllef fir d'Natur owns 120 hectare of land. These are forests, species-rich meadows, wetlands and fallow land.
Arrived at the mill of Kalborn, the Natura 2000 room as well as the water experience centre were visited. After the presentation of the LIFE Unio film, S.A.R. Grand Duc Henri took the opportunity to release cultured thick shelled river mussels into the river Our. He received active support from Ms. Carole Dieschbourg as well as from Mr. Patrick Losch.
