At the end of May, 500 young thick shelled river mussels were released in the river Sauer
After the animals had spent their first 2-3 years in the breeding station at the Kalborn mill, they could now return back to their original habitat, the river Sauer. In total, around 1000 animals will be released in the Sauer in 2018. This will increase the original stock of animals by about 10%. Almost all released animals are marked so that their further development can be traced.
