Fish monitoring at two different locations on the river Our and Sauer
In order to examine our fish population in the river Our and Sauer, a fish monitoring takes place at two different locations on each river over a distance of 100m. The gills of some of the fish are examined to check on glochidia produced by the thick shelled river mussle ("Unio crassus").
The most abundant fish species observed were the minnow ("Phoxinus phoxinus") and the stone loach (Barbatula barbatula"). The catched minnows are being used for our breeding station for thick shelled river mussles and will be set back into the river after the release of juvenile mussels from the fish.
