Unio crassus was an abundant species in most of the rivers in Luxembourg.
In recent decades, however, stocks decresed and Unio crassus is nowadays only present in the river Our and the river Sauer.
Since both river systems have transboundary river basins, the exchange of information with our neighboring countries is necessary and should be encouraged.
For this reason, an international water forum was organized in the framework of the LIFE project.
In the catchment area of the river Sauer the first water meeting was held on 12th of November 2014.
In this first meeting, representatives of the following stakeholders were able to briefly present their current and future projects for the protection of the catchment area of the river Sauer.
Representatives of the Nature Parks of Belgium and Luxembourg
Representatives of sewage treatment from Belgium and Luxembourg
Representatives of the SEBES from Luxembourg
Representative of the water authorities from Belgium and Luxembourg
